Want to get an overview of website security? This MOOC is for you! In this MOOC Sprint, you’ll get an introduction to secure software development and what that actually means. You’ll also learn about common website vulnerabilities and how to mitigate them, making sure you build with security in mind! We’ll also talk about best practices with API security and how you can not only understand the risks and threats against them but also how to secure them. This MOOC is great for anyone with a keen interest in online security!

This 4-part course takes place over 4 weeks and will be hosted via Code First Girls online teaching platform in webinar format. 

This course is great for beginners or anyone that fancies a little refresher or upskill opportunity! Learn the principles of key tech topics with Code First Girls 'MOOC' (Massive Open Online Courses) Sprints and test your knowledge with MOOC Challenges.

Please note these courses are available to anybody who identifies as a woman and is over the age of 18.

 

Session 1: Introduction to Secure Software Development/ DevSecOps

Session 2: Web App Security: Common vulnerabilities

  2. CWE Top 25 2023
  3. Example case studies (e.g. injection, XSS,  SSRF and DOS).
  4. Managing third-party risks & dependencies

 

Session 3: Web App Security: Securing Apps 

LIVE Session: Thursday 20th June @ 6pm - 7pm

  1. Discovering software vulnerabilities
  2. Code Reviews for Security
  3. Defending against common attacks

 

Session 4: API Security  

LIVE Session: Thursday 27th June @ 6pm - 7pm

  1. Python Libraries
