Available spaces: 233
Host: Simon Gregor
Warren Harding assumed the presidency from Woodrow Wilson, who had directed America's participation in the First World War. It had been a turbulent two terms for Wilson, and in a sense Americans were looking for someone to "make politics boring again"! Keen for an end to the tribulations of war, the restrictions and hardships of the 1910s, and involvement in the affairs of Europe, Americans looked to Harding to steady the tiller. In one sense, that is exactly what this relatively low-key politician did, at times apparently feeling almost overawed by his office. But his administration was also one beset by scandal and corruption...the consequences of which would be left for his successor to navigate following Harding's untimely death just a couple of years into his first term. Join Simon to explore the life, times and legacy of this lesser-known US President.
