And so we reach another landmark in our procession of US Presidents – Number 25, William McKinley, who succeeded the Democrat Grover Cleveland after his second term.  McKinley’s Presidency would be a one of great highs and lows – he led the US to victory in the Spanish-American war and used tax reforms to help protect and promote US industry as the hyper-industrial age of the C20 dawned.  Popular enough on the back of all that to be elected to a second term he was, like Lincoln, assassinated just a few months after his re-election, in his case by an anarchist revolutionary.  Join Simon for an exploration of the life, times and legacy of the man sometimes known as the “Idol of Ohio”.
