This 4-part course takes place over 4 weeks and will be hosted via Code First Girls online teaching platform in webinar format. 

This course is great for beginners or anyone that fancies a little refresher or upskill opportunity! Learn the principles of key tech topics with Code First Girls 'MOOC' (Massive Open Online Courses) Sprints and test your knowledge with MOOC Challenges.

Please note these courses are available to anybody who identifies as a woman or non-binary person and is over the age of 18.


Session 1: Introduction: Git and GitHub

LIVE Session: Monday 4th March @ 6 PM - 7 PM

  1. What is Version Control?
  2. Basic Linux Commands
  3. Git SetUp
  4. Initialise a Local Git Repository


Session 2: Git Branches

LIVE Session: Monday 11th March @ 6 PM - 7 PM

  1. What is a Branch?
  2. Branching – checkout, push branch
  3. Merging Branches


Session 3: Remote Repositories

LIVE Session: Monday 19th March @ 6 PM - 7 PM

  1. Initialize and Push to Remote Repositories
  2. Cloning Remote Repositories
  3. Pull Requests – Fetching and Pulling
  4. Forking a Repository


Session 4: Merge Conflicts

LIVE Session: Monday 25th March @ 6 PM - 7 PM

  1. Merge Conflicts
  2. Rebasing (Nice to have content for CFG Degree, but not necessary especially for MOOCs)
  3. Conclusion
