Available spaces: 241
Host: Simon Gregor
Herbert Hoover would take over the presidency from Calvin Coolidge at the end of the 1920s. In some ways, they had similar ideas - both were Republicans with concerns about the growth of Federal government activity in the first two decades of the C20, and a desire to reduce it. In other ways, Hoover's outspoken advocacy for a "rugged individualism" was in stark contrast to the quiet reserve of his predecessor "Silent Cal". But for good or ill, nothing would define Hoover's presidency quite as profoundly as the Wall Street Crash and its aftermath. How would Hoover rise to that challenge, and how would history judge him? Join Simon to learn more about President Hoover and this critical moment in C20 history.
