Please note, this session has been recorded from a live course and is available to watch flexibly in your own time up to 11:59pm on 2nd July.
In “Eisenhower Part 1” we considered the life of the man before he became president, including of course the vital role he played in the Second World War. Part 2 will turn to his eight years as President, and ask how his military career prepared him for politics. As president he would, of course, find himself in charge of the conduct of a very different form of conflict, as America faced the high tension stakes of the Cold War. How would Eisenhower navigate the early years of the space race and the arms race, and how did these challenges reflect on his domestic policy? These and other questions will form our focus as we continue our study of one of America’s most famous mid-C20 presidents.
Zoom recording link to view this session will be included at the bottom of your confirmation email after you have registered
