Please note, this session has been recorded from a live course and is available to watch flexibly in your own time up to 11:59pm on 15th July.

An exciting look at some of our native herbs, together with some unusual species that have their roots set in ancient civilisations.

  • Native herbs: Wild garlic, primroses, yarrow, sweet Cicely and meadowsweet.
  • Herbs from ancient civilisations: Opium poppy, coriander and dill from Mesopotamia (Iraq); elecampane,  calendula and the mysterious silphium from Ancient Greece and Roman Italy; garlic, henna and mandrake from Egypt (and Harry Potter!); aloe and Holy basil (Tulsi) from India; ginseng root and jasmine from China.  Together with details of their uses in cooking and health.

It’s important to note that whilst these are traditional places of origin, they have since been cultivated in many other areas of the globe.

Zoom recording link to view this session will be included at the bottom of your confirmation email after you have registered.
