Available spaces: 245
Host: Dr Simon Gregor
In "Eisenhower Part 1" we considered the life of the man before he became president, including of course the vital role he played in the Second World War. Part 2 will turn to his eight years as President, and ask how his military career prepared him for politics. As president he would, of course, find himself in charge of the conduct of a very different form of conflict, as America faced the high tension stakes of the Cold War. How would Eisenhower navigate the early years of the space race and the arms race, and how did these challenges reflect on his domestic policy? These and other questions will form our focus as we continue our study of one of America's most famous mid-C20 presidents.
