Estonia has been subjected to invasions and handovers ever since the time of the Vikings. The name Tallinn derives from Danish, a good part of the population is of Russian origin, many of the countryside manors have German roots, the language is closely related to Finnish and many local traditions are pagan in origin. Add glorious landscapes and you have a heady mix worth exploring!
