President Roosevelt was elected for a historic and unique fourth term in 1944, and yet even as he took up office his health was failing.  Within a few months, and before the conclusion of the Second World War, his life ended, and a reluctant Vice-President Truman found himself in the hot-seat with a big pair of boots to fill.  Truman, a Missouri farm boy, could hardly be more different in background from the New York elite of the Roosevelts.  So how would he go about bringing World War Two to a close, what would he do with FDR’s legacy, and how would his own life experiences shape those decisions?  Join Simon to explore the life and times of President Harry Truman.
