Please note, this session has been recorded from a live course and is available to watch flexibly in your own time up to 11:59pm on 30 November 2025.

We are pleased to be working with the Association of Charity Independent Examiners to offer this online session. Please ensure you read the course description, including aims and outcomes prior to booking. The trainers we are working with are experts in their field and, while they have been briefed on the structure of the WI, these sessions will not be WI specific.

If you are interested in knowing more about Independent Examination or becoming an Independent Examiner, this session is for you!

We all like to see charity money properly accounted for. Registered charities in the UK have to prepare annual reports and accounts which must be made available to the public on request and, depending on size and location, many have to have these reports formally reviewed by someone external.

This workshop will outline the basics of Independent Examination including:

  • What does an IE aim to do?

  • Who can have an IE

  • Who can be an IE

  • Charity Law and the WI Constitution

  • Preparing for an IE

  • An outline of the IE process

  • An outline of the IE report

  • Further advice and support

By the end of the workshop you should have a basic understanding of IE and the next steps to become and Independent Examiner.
