Please note, this session has been recorded from a live course and is available to watch flexibly in your own time up to 11:59pm on 18th June.

Over the past few months, we have been charting the massive industrial changes in the US in the first half of the 1800s, spurred on by the War of 1812.  But what did this mean for ordinary people living in America?  In this talk, Simon will explore some of the cultural changes which this era ushered in, as well as its impact on early C19 migration patterns.  We will also consider the growing rise of the labour movement, the emergence of new professions, and the development of labour unions.
