Just a few months into his second term, President William McKinley was assassinated, and his Vice-President Theodore Roosevelt stepped into the highest executive office in the USA.  He would go on to win a second term a few years later, and adopted what was considered at the time a progressive set of Republican policies.  Committed to a “fair deal” for ordinary American citizens, he supported new regulatory frameworks to help government adjust to the C20; he was also an advocate of the conservation movement; and, of course, would go on to be the first in another Presidential dynasty.  Join Simon for an exploration of the life, times and legacy of the first Roosevelt to be president!
