We are pleased to be working with Enhance the UK to offer this online session. Please ensure you read the course description, including aims and objectives prior to booking. The partner trainers we are working with are experts in their field and, while they have been briefed on the structure of the WI, this session will not be WI specific.

Wednesday 19 June 1-4:30pm

Our half day disability awareness training sessions are led by disabled trainers who share their expert knowledge and lived experience. Training is interactive and breaks are provided. We introduce different impairment types including hearing impairments, visual impairments, communication impairments, physical impairments, non-visible impairments and neurodiversity. By the end of the session delegates will:

  • Understand the meaning and incidence of disability.
  • Know the social model of disability and the implications of this.
  • Recognise the barriers that disabled people have in employment and accessing services and consider ways in which these can be removed.
  • Know how to communicate appropriately about disability and access requirements.

This is a participatory training session and to ensure participants to feel able to ask questions and share experiences freely, this session will not be recorded.
